Daughter of a government employee posted in Rajasthan, India, Meenal Parakh is the all-India topper among girls and has secured an overall sixth rank among 1.2 million applicants hoping to study in the most prestigious engineering school in the country.

Her parents are overjoyed. She was hugely motivated by her older sister who gained admission to the same institute and is currently studying aerospace engineering.

Test scores and grades : Meenal scored 318 marks out of a total of 360, practised mock tests frequently to prepare for the exam. “The success mantra for me in the JEE Advanced 2018 was to focus on daily work in the best possible manner,” the daughter of Doordarshan engineer Gulab Chand Parakh and homemaker Manju Parakh added.

Making notes of classroom study, regular revision and hard work were also the keys to her success.The 17-year-old likes playing badminton and watching television but does not indulge in mobile browsing and social media.

“Instead of dedicating a fixed number of hours for studying, I used to allocate time according to the progress of my preparation”, said Meenal
